Many people became accustomed to the A* – G GCSE grading system, and this may be the system that you are most familiar with. In 2016 the government made a chnage to the GCSE grade system and students are now awarded a grade 9 to grade 1 with grade 9 being the highest. 

However, with vocational qualifications, there is a further grading system, that is used these grades range from a level 2 Distinction * down to a level 1 Pass.
